How do I explain this?

The last two/three months have been a blur, from getting very ill to getting very ill in a totally new way (new to me at least) to having a mini-family-reunion this weekend (first time with both sons and their wives under the same roof for more than a few hours) to dealing with my brother trying to die on me before I’m done with him.

So I haven’t been very productive. BUT more importantly, I’ve been more ADD than normal. (Imagine me as a bouncing ball in a pin ball machine.)

I’ve been verklempt and perhaps a little nuttier than usual. And let’s face it, I used to be sane but I lost my mind in the blog wars and I’m not particularly predictable, even to myself.

So, one of my close-in fans who is very sweet and tries to mind me (think of very calm lady with hyper-active chihuahua) told me the based book sale was coming. I said “Sure, I’ll put something in it.” And then I went back to running around like Mike the Headless Chicken with less chicken lust.

Two days ago, I finally managed to concentrate long enough to put three books in the sale for 99c each:

Draw One in the Dark

Done with Mirrors

And Death of a Musketeer. (Yes, yes, the series will continue, but give me till next year. I have things ahead of it, including the refinishing mysteries. and not dying.)

And then Hans G. Schantz contacted me. you see, No Man’s Land was one of their bestsellers last time, and he wanted to know if I wanted to put it in.

Have I mentioned I’ve been going mildly insane? (Imagine crazy Hal down at the used car lot.)

Honestly, on the serious side, I was super conflicted about No Man’s Land last time, because realistically I was selling people 1/3 the book for 99c, which is mean. Because No Man’s Land volume one is only 1/3 of a 900 page book.

So in a moment of utter weakness, I put all three volumes on sale for 99c each.

LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR: I don’t know if this will happen ever again. I’m probably going to put it on sale now and then, but probably not all three volumes and not that low because (crazy Hal hat on) I’m hurting myself with this sale, as I only get 33c a book. (It’s not on KU.) Or if you prefer, like Dibbler, I’m cutting off me own head.

However, the deed is done, so for this sale, until the night of the 26th (with some fudge because changing price is not instant) each volume of No Man’s Land is on sale at 99c each.

Have at them:

No Man’s Land volume 1

No Man’s Land volume 2 and No Man’s Land volume 3.

Mistakes were made and I went weak. BUT it’s your gain. At least for this week.

There are also many other people and many fine books on sale, so give the place a look, anyway.

    Oh.

I figured that it was on sale, yesterday, when I bought the three volumes of NML. (No promises to read immediately, I purchased stuff partly because my urge to read was under control, and partly becuase I have been hearing conflicting things about downloading to Kindle for PC after may 26th. )

  2. Well, doesn’t help me any. But I don’t resent giving you more money than I absolutely had to – you’re not the tax man.

(I am getting some joy from Massie apparently being taken down. That gonoph was quite willing to see several thousand dollars more being taken out of my pocket this year.)

  3. We were very happy with our results in the last (and our very first) Based Book Sale.

    Did we make this sale?

Hahahahahahahaha! Way too much was going on. Next time!

  4. Just found out I’d somehow ended up unsubscribed to the Mad Genius Club, which explains why I wasn’t seeing any notifications from it anymore.

I’d actually also gotten unsubbed from According to Hoyt a while ago too, but finally got that fixed as well.

    Ah, WordPress…

  5. I’m in it too! The Princess Seeks Her Fortune!

    And many other familiar bylines!

  6. Mistakes were made.

Yeah, I did one of those. I notified Hans of my intention to put one of Sharon’s books, China Harbor: Out of Time, in the sale, and only yesterday realized I had offended the gods of the Amazon and can’t change the price on the ebook–apparently until I finish revising the paperback. (It’s long at 180k words, and I’m trying to make the paperback bigger and easier to read, so going from 380 pages to 580 pages, but I seem to have screwed up the margins.)

In any case, I’m sure folks will appreciate your generosity with No Man’s Land. I already have all three in paperback, so I can wave my nose in the air and say, “Peasants!”
