I now have my schedule for Capclave – although the launch is still rather undecided. Some silly (*ahem) the lovely folks at Capclave have me moderating two panels, which should be fun, and I’m on a third panel and have a reading.

There will still be a book, although what, how, and when is rather nebulous still. Apparently they’ve changed hotels and they’re still feeling out exactly what works best with the current hotel.

So, the absolute certainties are:

Saturday October 15:  1:30 PM – Reading

Saturday  October 15:  4:00 PM – Worldbuilding: Alternate History  (m)

Sunday October 16: 12:00 PM – Urban Fantasy

Sunday October 16: 2:00 PM – Paranormal : Innies or Outies (m)

Yes, you saw that right. I will be moderating a panel titled “Innies or Outies”. There may be a great deal of immoderation involved in that one.

  1. I’m really REALLY sorry I can’t be there, especially for Kate ‘moderating’ innies and outies. (I have written to the schedulers to correct the typo – How they managed this one is beyond me. E is not next to M)
Be confident! you’ll exacerbate it wonderfully.

    1. Dave,
I fully intend to have a great deal of fun exacerbating the discussion.

  2. I want to know if you are taking visual aids to the panel on innies and outies and if we need to start collecting money to post bail for you ;-p

    1. Amanda, I think the woman who coined the terms “undead pornette” and “Interchangeable feminist” not to mention “demon wear” doesn’t NEED visual aids. I’m so sorry I won’t be there to heckle…

And Kate take notes, lots of notes!

      1. Sarah,
Exactly! At least one of those terms is likely to get used at some point in the panel. Unless I manage to get really creative and manage a new one.

And I fully intend to take lots of notes. There’s book 3 to write…

    2. Amanda,
Visual aids aren’t necessary when a little “sign language” does the trick just fine. You may need to post bail, though 😀

  3. Paranormal innies and outies… what the heck? Please let us know what people think the panel is about, it sounds fascinating.

Aha! A bit of googling reveals that while there are the expected innie and outie belly buttons, along with an unexpected group of innie and outie female genitalia (I refused to go farther than the titles), there is a relatively large group of people who have a more abstract concept of innie and outie, related to introverts and extroverts. I and E from MBTF, eh? E.g. here’s a WSJ article about innies and outies http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304314404576411640141999396.html
Now, there was also a paranormal society joke about eating so much on Thanksgiving that you innies will turn into outies, but…

Should be amusing. And what else might be in and out in the paranormal world?

    1. nother Mike,

It could be any and all of the above, as well as a whole lot more. As I recall from the panel details (and my memory is seriously flaky), male vs female protagonists is part of the deal. But with my mind, let’s just say that things stand a good chance of degenerating, fast.

Innie and outie female genitalia? I know human comes in innie and outie, but female? Please tell me that was a typo… my mind does not need to be boggling at 6am.

      1. I refused to click on the link, but there was indeed a page discussing female genitalia in terms of innie and outie. I don’t think I want to know… some things are better not investigated, I think. Sorry, but it was female — the “V” word, to be exact.
