The last two months and a half have been a blur. I’d say to remind me not to have my mom die a week before a big book release, but honestly I’m all out of moms now.
What? Yes, that’s the level of humor I can manage now. Yes, it’s pitiful. Deal.
Anyway, the only publicity I’ve managed these last two and a half months has been writing song lyrics. It started with my wanting to write the songs that appear in No Man’s Land — Missa’s Confession/Lament, Master of Illusion and of course Erradi the Cold.
I started trying to work those out on Suno on the day of mom’s death, mostly because it allowed me to have headphones on and shut out the world.
Somehow this then morphed into “songs about the book”: Probably the best of these is Skip Hayden’s No Man’s Land, which best encapsulates the book. I’m very fond of The Ballad of the King of Elly, but I imagine if you don’t already have the book in your head it’s horribly confusing. I don’t know. I like it. Then someone dropped into my head the idea of writing a sound track for the book. I don’t actually know what they mean, but I’ve been averaging a song per chapter. It’s going to be…. a few albums. The no-lyrics version of the playlist (Note it’s a PLAYLIST) and the Lyric-video version of the playlist.
How has that done? I don’t know. Could be the merest coincidence that every time I put a song out there, I sell 10 books. Which is a bit “like Juan Valdez” but considering it’s fun and stuff I can do when sick (there’s been a lot of that. My auto immune tries to murder me when I’m stressed) or exhausted and all it costs is the cheapest level of Suno membership, I’m okay with that.
So, first bleg — not for the sound track, obviously, but does anyone want to see any songs about the book, specifically? (This would be those who’ve read it, of course.)
But the truth is, I’m starting to sort of wake up and realize I should get some real publicity. If anyone wishes to host me at their blog, please let me know (yes, I DO remember, Caroline, it’s just been weird.)
And on that, I was trying to get interviews. I heard from one person but it will be months if/when we connect. Does anyone have any contacts for interviews? Because I give good interview. No, really, I honestly do, bizarre accent and all. I suspect if people tried to contact me it fell apart on my email which is selective at best in what it lets through. bookpimping at outlook dot com might be the best email to actually, you know, get it.
Other than that, this is for the other authors posting here: does anyone have any connections to either people who run add campaigns for you or who will teach you how to run an add campaign. Because FB and Amazon’s instructions are … well, not a foreign language. I could probably figure that out. Most like my husband talking computers. My Eyes Glaze Over and I become useless. Note, I don’t need Pakistani scammers (Really dude, if you’re going to offer me my “worked out” publicity plan for $500 make sure there are no trails on line of your selling a lot of things do different people, including, oh, investment plans, etc. No. Just no.) Or scammers not of Pakistani origin, which seem to be 99% of the people on Linkedin and also pinging me on my email and/or fb. I mean, transparent, obvious scam, or easily revealed as such with a simple web search.
Also, anyone has any other ideas on how to publicize the book? I want to set things up, so I can concentrate on writing Orphans of the Stars. After I finish Witch’s Daughter, of course. Yes, the next year is going to suck in terms of work. This is actually required if I’m to make my goals. But–
Anyway, the sooner I figure out this publicity thing the best, so if you have something to contribute, I’d be grateful. Thank you.

playlists are good. I have two kindle books on amazon ads (Mastering Amazon Ads, Amazon Ads for Authors) but it’s been so long since I read them I don’t know how useful they are. I do remember that Amazon ads require you to find keywords that are either searches your books are relevant to, or names of authors with comparable works.
These are kindle books on ads that I own, certainly am not smart enough to write any!
What “works” for keywords and tags changes so often that I’d think those might be useful general tip guides, but not great for “what works right now, November 12 2025.”
Playlists are cool. I tracked down some fantasy and sci-fi books based on filk about them.
I just did a podcast interview with Alexxa Burton.
She’s on YouTube (@authoralexxa) and Spotify. Not a huge following (yet), but she’s a very good interviewer.
Not someone I have an “in” to….
I sent you an email with her contact info.
I found Matt Holmes’ Facebook ad course super helpful. He’s doing one now for BookBub: https://www.matthewjholmes.com/bookbub-ads-mastery-for-authors-matthew-j-holmes

Thank you! Need to get back in the marketing saddle now that my current series is almost finished.
