I’m proverbially a terrible promoter. As in, I have no clue how to promote.

And then to make things better, of course, my mom died a week before the first volume of No Man’s Land came out, which of course in turn kind of messed everything up. I had a blog tour planned, but I’ve been having trouble getting the mind to work.

Anyway, for whatever reason what ended up happening is that I started writing a lot of er…. clanker songs. What do I mean by clanker songs?

Well, I wrote the lyrics, then ran it by suno for m usic (it’s not as easy as that. There are many iterations.) And then i did videos on midjourney.

Strangely, every time I posted the songs, I sold a bunch of books.

So what is the problem? I am having clanker song block. I can’t even figure out WHAT to write about… And the sales fell accordingly. Eh. So, ideas needed, relating to my book for clanker songs.

And meanwhile I get to inflict my clanker songs on you…

It started with some K-pop, because why not, first about the book from the Earth perspective, then about the Elly perspective. (Elly being a lost colony of bio-engineered hermaphrodites.)

And this is about the archmagician’s ruby ( a sort of storage and AI instrument, which controls the magical power in the land, and also well, can do some stuff to people’s minds, let’s say that.)

Then I moved to Celtic power metal:

And then there was some sort of folk pop….

Anyway, this is the channel, if you want to listen to the rest.

And now, if only I could think of another song for the clanker!

(Yes, I will buy ads, but we have a looming international trip to visit my dad while he’s still with us. So I’m taking forever to go through the how-to video and….)

  1. What about the Academy song Skip sang in Doro? (Please tell me the residents aren’t Doritos!)

    1. LOL. No. They’re not. LOL. That never occurred to me.

  2. This is not urgent, especially when you’re prepping for a trip to see your dad, but do you have any recommendations for software programs for cutting animations and music together like that? Travel safe!

    1. I saw a news scroll somewhere of a program called Sora from OpenAI(?); can’t relocate.

      1. I thought it was “just” a video generator but it does look like it has some editing capabilities. Not sure on the adding sound part.

        1. I’ll tell you the name of the program when I get to the other computer. (Yes, it’s like that today. I can’t remember the simplest thing. Slept like …. never mind.)

          1. I hear you. Last night wasn’t terrible, but even so it just feels like my context window is full up.

      2. That’s the one Dan recommends, but I didn’t want to spend money.

    2. I’m using a very old program we happened to own. There are others more recent, but I don’t know them.
We’re not traveling for two weeks. It’s just…. making the arrangements.

    3. There are a number of open source nonlinear video editors to be had. Flowblade is pro-level. OpenShot or KDenLive are probably more beginner friendly.

  3. Totally unrelated, but I was really fascinated by how the art program managed to depict one dancing robot in your illustration as male and the other as female. The shapes of the legs, shoulders and heads… as well as details like the shoes and skirt. These art programs are doing amazing work with details.

    1. Yep. You have to train them, though.

  5. Clanker songs, they’ve got it goin on

    They’re all that I want

    And I’ve waited so long…

  6. After finishing Volume 2, my (slightly [strike]perverted[/strike] perverse) mind wants to hear the cave song. “It’s all about sex!”

    G-rated video, please. 🙂

  7. Starting Volume 1 this morning; sorry I’m late.

This is a wild-and-crazy brilliant scheme; at some point you should write a short book about how the whole series and all its pieces (music included) came together. Think of it as a slice of your memoirs. Years ago I wrote several lyrics but ran into a brick wall trying to write music for them. I gotta try this AI music generator schema and work the music into my current WIP.

    1. Try Suno. It’s addictive.

      1. *waves pom poms* S-U-N-O!

  8. Off topic but, I have not been able to post comments on your web site since October 8th. Everything looks normal, it pretends to post, but the comments never show up. I sent you E-mail at the thermal address, twice. I don’t think you got them.

WPDE has apparently become vindictive. ☹️

    1. TXRed as Mod: I have no idea why things are going odd. They didn’t show up in the SPAM filter, or the “pending.” One of the poly-tics replies did come through.

      As you say, WPDE.
