   I always wonder… is it weird to have Christmas and New Year in the middle of summer?

      Actually it’s wonderful. Geoff and I did our usual Christmas lunch today. A picnic at the beach followed by a walk over the rock ledge to look in the tidal pools.
      I would hate to go back to England for Christmas.

         It still (after 9 years) feels wrong to me to have Christmas in winter. Christmas is for relaxing and lazing around with family, preferably on the beach although by a pool will work.

         This midwinter thing is just wrong. No poinciana trees in blazing scarlet, (not to be confused with poinsettia), no gardenia blooms, no long, hot lazy days. I just want to hibernate.
